Dania Beach sits right between our Hollywood office and the airport. If you were hurt here, Alexandra Linder Diaz can walk you through your options in a free consultation, with no fee unless we win.
Dania Beach was incorporated in 1904 as Broward’s first city, and today it is one of the county’s busiest crossroads. It sits immediately south of Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport and Port Everglades, and both U.S. 1 and I-95 cut through it. That means airport traffic, port trucks, shoppers and beachgoers all share the same roads.
If you were hurt in Dania Beach, Linder Diaz Law can help. We are based just south in downtown Hollywood. Your consultation is free, we work on a contingency fee, and you pay no fee unless we win.
Whether you live here, work near the airport or were only passing through on the way to a flight or a cruise, the steps that protect your claim are the same, and this page walks through them.
The city is also home to attractions like the IGFA World Fishing Center, Dania Jai Alai and the Casino at Dania Beach, plus hotels and a growing number of new apartments. Busy venues mean more chances for falls on wet floors, poorly lit stairs and uneven parking surfaces.
This is a detail many people miss. Dania Beach does not have its own city police department. Under a contract with the city, the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) provides police services through its Dania Beach district office at 4601 SW 30th Ave. The district’s non-emergency number is (954) 926-2400.
That means your crash report is usually a BSO report, not a city report. BSO asks that requests for accident reports go through its online Public Records Unit portal. The Public Records Unit can be reached at 954-831-8700, Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. BSO has said its records unit is working through a backlog, so it helps to request early and avoid duplicate requests.
You can also buy a copy through the state’s Florida Crash Portal for $10 plus a $2 online convenience fee. Under Florida law, crash reports with personal information stay confidential for 60 days except for the people involved, their lawyers, their insurers and others listed in the statute. If you hire us, we track down the report for you.
Dania Beach is in Broward County, part of Florida’s 17th Judicial Circuit. A lawsuit would be filed in Broward. The main courthouse is the Broward County Judicial Complex at 201 SE 6th Street in Fort Lauderdale, a short drive north, and the circuit also has a South Regional Courthouse at 3550 Hollywood Blvd in Hollywood.
For most negligence claims from accidents on or after March 24, 2023, Florida’s deadline to file a lawsuit is two years. Many claims settle long before that, but waiting too long can end a claim entirely.
Because Dania Beach is a travel hub and a workplace for thousands of people, we see a wide mix of cases:
If your workers’ comp claim has already been denied, our page on denied workers’ comp claims explains what can happen next, including filing a Petition for Benefits.
For example (hypothetical): a hotel employee is driving home on U.S. 1 when a car swerves into his lane, clips his front bumper and speeds off. He gets a partial license plate, and a BSO deputy writes the report. His back pain grows over the next few days, and he sees a doctor within a week.
His PIP coverage starts paying part of his medical bills and lost wages. Since the other driver is unknown, his lawyer turns to his own uninsured motorist coverage, which he bought with his policy. The lawyer also asks nearby businesses for camera footage before it is erased. If the driver is later found, a claim against that driver may be possible too. Every case is different.
Our guide to uninsured motorist coverage in Florida explains how this coverage works and why it can matter so much after a hit-and-run.
Get medical care quickly. After a car crash, Florida’s PIP coverage only pays medical benefits if you get initial treatment within 14 days. If you were hurt at work, tell your employer right away; Florida law gives you 30 days to report a work injury, but waiting can cause problems.
Keep the BSO report number, photos, medical paperwork and the names of anyone who saw what happened. Do not sign anything from an insurance company or give a recorded statement before getting advice. Florida’s modified comparative negligence rule reduces your recovery by your share of fault and bars recovery if you are more than 50% at fault, so insurers often look for ways to blame you.
If you were visiting and are flying home soon after the crash, tell us right away. We can keep working on your claim by phone, email and video after you leave Florida.
