Hallandale Beach is just south of our Hollywood office. If you were hurt here, Alexandra Linder Diaz can review what happened in a free consultation, and you pay no fee unless we win.
Hallandale Beach is a compact city with a lot going on: condo towers along the ocean, Gulfstream Park on Federal Highway, and steady traffic heading to and from Miami-Dade. When you get hurt in a place this busy, it can be hard to know who is responsible and where to start.
Linder Diaz Law is based in neighboring Hollywood, a short trip north. We help Hallandale Beach residents, workers and visitors with injury claims from the first phone call to the final check. The consultation is free, and there is no fee unless we win.
Most of the city’s traffic runs on a handful of roads, and that is where we see many crashes.
Speeding near schools has been a real concern here. The city says speed studies near three schools recorded 5,775 violations in a five-day period, and it has launched an automated school-zone speed enforcement program. If your child was hurt walking or biking to school, that history may matter.
Hallandale Beach has its own police department, so crashes inside the city are generally handled by Hallandale Beach Police rather than the sheriff. The city says police reports can be requested online through its public records portal, and its Records Unit can be reached at (954) 457-1400.
Florida law keeps crash reports with personal details confidential for 60 days after they are filed, except for people such as those involved, their lawyers and their insurers. You can also buy a copy through the state’s Florida Crash Portal, where the fee is $10 per report plus a $2 online convenience fee.
One local wrinkle: Hallandale Beach sits right on the county line. A crash a few blocks south may be handled by a Miami-Dade agency, and a lawsuit from it may belong in Miami-Dade’s courts, not Broward’s. Getting the report quickly tells us which rules and courts apply.
Hallandale Beach is in Broward County, in Florida’s 17th Judicial Circuit. The closest courthouse is the South Regional Courthouse at 3550 Hollywood Blvd in Hollywood. The circuit’s main courthouse is the Broward County Judicial Complex in Fort Lauderdale. Most claims settle without trial, but a case has to be filed on time: generally two years for negligence claims from accidents on or after March 24, 2023.
If your claim does go to court, we handle the filing, the paperwork and the deadlines, and we keep you updated in plain language along the way.
Hallandale Beach has year-round residents, seasonal visitors and many people who work in the city’s shops, restaurants and gaming businesses. Those patterns shape the injuries we see most often:
Because Florida does not require most drivers to carry bodily injury liability coverage, the driver who hit you may have little or no insurance. Your own uninsured motorist (UM) coverage, if you have it, can help fill that gap.
For example (hypothetical): a condo resident takes a rideshare to a doctor’s appointment. As the car heads west on Hallandale Beach Boulevard, another driver runs a light and hits the passenger side. She suffers a shoulder injury that later needs surgery.
Because the rideshare driver had accepted the trip, Florida law requires at least $1,000,000 in coverage for death, bodily injury and property damage until she leaves the car, plus PIP. Her lawyer also looks at the at-fault driver’s insurance and her own policies. Sorting out which coverage pays first, and in what order, is one of the reasons rideshare claims benefit from careful handling. Every case is different.
Start with your health. After a car crash, Florida’s PIP coverage pays medical benefits only if you receive initial care within 14 days, and medical records connect your injuries to the crash. Our article on the PIP 14-day rule explains the details.
Then protect the evidence. Many Hallandale Beach condos, stores and businesses along Federal Highway have security cameras, but footage is often recorded over within days. Write down where cameras are, keep your photos and get witness names. Before you speak with any insurance adjuster, read what to tell the insurance company in Florida.
Remember that under Florida’s modified comparative negligence rule, your recovery is reduced by your share of fault, and you recover nothing if you are found more than 50% at fault.
