Hollywood is our home city. If you were hurt here, in a crash, a fall or on the job, Alexandra Linder Diaz can explain your options in a free consultation, and you pay no fee unless we win.
Most injury firms that advertise in Hollywood are based somewhere else. Linder Diaz Law is based downtown, on Tyler Street, and Hollywood is the city we know best. We drive the same boulevards you do, and we know how quickly an ordinary errand can turn into an ambulance ride.
This page is about your injury claim: what tends to happen here, which local agencies and courts are involved, and how a case moves forward. If you are looking for parking and directions, our Hollywood office page has those details.
Your consultation is free. We work on a contingency fee, so there are no upfront costs and no fee unless we win. Call or text (305) 853-8628, day or night.
Hollywood packs a lot into a small area: an interstate, a busy federal highway, a downtown arts district and a beach that draws visitors all year. Each part of the city brings its own kinds of injuries.
Many Hollywood injuries are not car crashes at all. Spills in grocery stores, broken steps at rental buildings and wet tile at beach businesses lead to serious falls, too.
Inside city limits, crashes are usually investigated by the Hollywood Police Department, headquartered at 401 South Park Road. Its Records Unit handles accident reports and asks that requests be submitted through the city’s online Public Records Center.
According to the city, traffic accident reports are not public for the first 60 days, except for people entitled to a copy under section 316.066, Florida Statutes, such as the people involved, their lawyers and their insurers. During that window you will need to fill out a sworn statement. You can also buy the report through the state’s Florida Crash Portal, which the city lists at a total cost of $12.
If you hire us, we request the report and review it for mistakes, such as a wrong lane, a missing witness or an incomplete insurance entry.
Hollywood is in Broward County, part of Florida’s 17th Judicial Circuit. The circuit’s South Regional Courthouse sits right here at 3550 Hollywood Blvd, and the main courthouse is the Broward County Judicial Complex at 201 SE 6th Street in Fort Lauderdale. If a lawsuit is filed, it would be filed in Broward County.
Most injury claims settle through negotiation without a trial. A lawsuit is a tool, not the starting point. Still, the deadline matters: for most negligence claims from accidents on or after March 24, 2023, Florida allows two years to file suit.
Our practice is focused on people who were hurt through no fault of their own. For Hollywood clients, the most common matters include:
For example (hypothetical): a retired teacher is shopping at a supermarket off Hollywood Boulevard. She slips on liquid near the produce aisle and breaks her wrist. There is no warning sign, and the puddle has footprints and cart tracks running through it.
Under section 768.0755, Florida Statutes, she has to show that the store knew, or should have known, about the spill and had time to clean it up. Those tracks can help show the liquid had been there a while. Her lawyer sends a letter right away asking the store to preserve its camera footage and inspection logs, because that kind of evidence can disappear quickly. Every case is different, but early steps like these often shape the outcome.
Florida uses modified comparative negligence. If you are partly at fault, your damages are reduced by your percentage of fault, and if you are found more than 50% at fault you recover nothing. Insurers often push fault onto the injured person, so evidence gathered early matters.
Being local makes things simpler. You can stop by downtown for an appointment, including on weekends, or we can talk by phone, text or video. If you are recovering at home, we can come to you.
